The industries we recruit for in Malaysia

Permanent white-collar talent, matched by people who actually know your sector — across Peninsular Malaysia.

By Steph Eng · Carriera·Updated 17 June 2026
The short answer

Carriera recruits permanent white-collar talent across eleven-to-twelve Malaysian industries — logistics and freight forwarding, several manufacturing sectors, accounting and finance, electrical and electronics, retail, wholesale and distribution, and professional services — for SMEs and MNCs throughout Peninsular Malaysia. Each sector below links to its own dedicated recruitment page.

The Map

Which sectors does Carriera recruit across?

We place permanent staff across a broad spread of Malaysian industries, with particular depth in manufacturing, logistics, and finance. Our recruitment service runs the same disciplined, quality-over-volume search whatever the sector — but the knowledge behind each search is sector-specific. Below is the full map of where we work; each is a doorway into a dedicated page for that industry.

If you are looking for a role rather than a hire, our live jobs board lists current openings across these same sectors. And if a term in a job spec is unfamiliar — from shortlist to contingency — our recruitment glossary explains the vocabulary in plain English.

§ 02
Why It Matters

Why does sector depth change the quality of a hire?

A recruiter who knows your sector reads a CV the way you would. They recognise which certifications carry weight, what the role should pay in the current Malaysian market, and the compliance context the job sits inside — so the shortlist that lands on your desk is genuinely assessed, not just keyword-matched.

That matters most in regulated or technical industries. A medical-devices QA lead, a customs executive, a precision-machining engineer or a tax-literate finance manager cannot be screened well by someone reading the title for the first time. Sector knowledge lets us tell the difference between a candidate who has done the job and one who merely lists it — and it lets us advise you honestly on what the role realistically commands. Three things travel with that knowledge on every search:

  • The roles. We know the actual jobs in your industry — their day-to-day, their seniority ladder, and the adjacent functions a strong candidate can grow into.
  • The salary norms. We carry live benchmarks for what each role pays across Peninsular Malaysia, so offers are pitched to win the right person without overshooting.
  • The compliance. We screen with literacy in the Employment Act, LHDN and SST considerations that shape every offer and onboarding.

A generalist forwards CVs. A sector specialist forwards a shortlist — people who can actually do the job, screened by someone who knows what the job is.

The Sectors

Browse our industry pages

Each card below opens a dedicated page for that sector — the roles we place, what the talent market looks like, and how to brief a search. If your industry is not here, the disciplines usually overlap, so talk to us anyway.

Logistics & Freight Forwarding

Operations, customs, supply-chain and management roles for forwarders, hauliers and warehousing operators.

Accounting & Finance

Accounts, audit and finance professionals from executives to managers — screened with real tax and reporting literacy.

Medical Devices & Disposables Mfg

Production, quality, regulatory and engineering talent for a sector where compliance is non-negotiable.

Electrical & Electronics

Engineering, technical and manufacturing-leadership roles across Malaysia's E&E backbone.

High-Precision Manufacturing

Process, quality and plant-management specialists where tolerances and throughput both have to hold.

Food, Plastic & Paper Packaging Mfg

Production, QA and operations talent for packaging manufacturers serving FMCG and industrial clients.

Retail & Supermarket Chains

Store, category, operations and head-office roles for retail and supermarket networks.

Wholesale & Distribution

Sales, supply-chain and branch-management talent for distributors and wholesale businesses.

Professional & Corporate/Financial Services

Specialist, advisory and support-function roles across professional, corporate and financial services firms.

That is the spread we work across most — though, as a small team that takes searches personally, we will tell you honestly if a role sits outside our depth rather than take it on regardless. To brief a role in any of these sectors, message us on WhatsApp or use our contact page.

§ 04
The Difference

How is this different from a generalist CV flood?

A generalist agency works on volume: cast wide, forward whatever lands, let you do the filtering. A sector specialist works on fit: search the right talent pool, assess each candidate against your actual requirements, and present a tight shortlist you can act on. The difference is who carries the screening load — them, or you.

 Generalist CV floodCarriera, by sector

Market knowledgeGeneric salary guessesLive Malaysian benchmarks for the role
Who you deal withAn account manager passing you alongThe consultant running your search directly

This is the heart of our quality-over-volume approach: because we are a small team, you deal directly with the consultant doing the work, and every candidate we put forward has been manually screened against your brief. To date we have served 50+ companies across these sectors on exactly that basis.

It is also why the licence behind the search matters. Carriera recruits through Agensi Pekerjaan Carriera Talent Resources Sdn Bhd (Co. No. 1058296-H), a private employment agency licensed by Malaysia's Ministry of Human Resources under JTKSM 615. The Labour Department of Peninsular Malaysia is explicit that the Private Employment Agencies Act 1981 “requires anyone undertaking recruiting activities to be licenced as an APS” (jtksm.mohr.gov.my). Every search across every sector above runs inside that framework.

FAQ

Sector questions

Which industries does Carriera recruit for in Malaysia?
Eleven to twelve: logistics, freight forwarding and warehousing; accounting; corporate and financial services; medical devices and disposables manufacturing; electrical and electronics; high-precision manufacturing; food, plastic and paper packaging manufacturing; retail and supermarket chains; wholesale and distribution; and professional services — all across Peninsular Malaysia.
Does Carriera only recruit for the sectors listed?
No. These are where we have the deepest experience, but the underlying disciplines — operations, finance, engineering, quality, supply chain, sales — overlap across sectors. If your industry is not listed, talk to us; the roles are often the same shape and the screening discipline carries across.
Why does sector specialism matter when hiring a recruitment agency?
A recruiter who knows your sector can read a CV properly — they recognise the certifications that matter, the salary norms for the role, and the compliance context. Sector depth turns a CV flood into a genuinely assessed shortlist of people who can actually do the job.
Where in Malaysia does Carriera recruit across these sectors?
Across Peninsular Malaysia. We are based in Setia Alam, Selangor, and recruit for employers from the Klang Valley outward — for SMEs and MNCs alike, from management roles through to specialist and technical positions.
