Logistics & freight forwarding recruitment in the Klang Valley

Permanent freight, customs, supply-chain and warehousing talent — screened by people who know the floor, not just the CV.

By Steph Eng · Carriera·Updated 17 June 2026
The short answer

Carriera recruits permanent logistics, freight-forwarding and warehousing talent across the Klang Valley — from freight and customs operations through supply-chain and logistics customer service to branch finance and management. We are a JTKSM 615 licensed agency that screens for real operational fit: Incoterms literacy, customs and forwarding exposure, and the shift realities of the job.

§ 01
The Sector

Who does Carriera recruit for in logistics?

Logistics, freight forwarding and warehousing is one of Carriera's deepest sectors — and one of the busiest on our live jobs board. We place permanent white-collar talent for two kinds of employer: licensed freight forwarders and 3PLs moving sea, air and land cargo, and the in-house logistics, warehousing and supply-chain teams of importers, exporters, manufacturers and distributors. The roles overlap heavily, so our screening reads across both.

Most of these employers cluster along the Klang and Port Klang corridor — the gateway for the bulk of Malaysia's container trade — with more across Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and the Sungai Buloh industrial belt. That is our home ground: Carriera is based in Setia Alam, minutes from the corridor, and we recruit across the other industries we serve from the same Klang Valley base. As a licensed private employment agency, every search runs within the rules that govern hiring in Malaysia.

§ 02
Roles

Which logistics roles do we place?

Below are real, currently-open logistics and freight roles from our jobs board — concrete examples of the seats we fill, with their Klang Valley locations and advertised monthly salary ranges. They span the full stack, from frontline freight operations to branch finance leadership.

RoleLocationSalary band (monthly)
Freight Executive (sea freight, FCL/LCL)KlangRM4,000 – RM6,000
Customer Service Executive (Freight)KlangRM1,800 – RM2,800
Logistics Coordinator (Logistics CS)KlangRM1,800 – RM3,500
Logistics Customer Service ExecutiveKlangRM1,700 – RM2,500
Inventory & Logistics ExecutiveKlangRM3,500 – RM5,000
Indoor Sales Executive (Freight Forwarding)KlangRM2,500 – RM3,500
Sales Executive (Logistics)KlangRM2,500 – RM3,000
Finance Manager (Logistics)KlangRM7,000 – RM12,000

Alongside these, the sector's standard white-collar roles round out a logistics business: operations (operations executives and managers, documentation, haulage and transport coordinators), freight and customs (forwarding executives, customs/declaration officers, import-export clerks), supply chain (planners, procurement, demand and inventory specialists), logistics customer service (account servicing, vendor coordination), and the branch, finance and management layer that runs each site. Candidates and openings move quickly — check the jobs board for what is live today.

§ 03
Screening

What do we screen for in logistics talent?

A logistics CV that looks right on paper can still be the wrong hire. We screen for the things that actually decide whether someone survives the first quarter on a forwarding desk or a warehouse floor — not just the job title history.

  • Incoterms & documentation literacy. Can the candidate read a Bill of Lading, work to the correct Incoterms term, and handle shipping documentation without supervision? For freight and CS roles this is non-negotiable.
  • Customs & forwarding operations. Real exposure to import/export and customs clearance workflows, declaration handling, and the day-to-day of an FCL/LCL or sea/air freight desk — not just classroom knowledge.
  • Shift & on-call realities. Port-corridor and warehouse roles often carry shift, weekend or on-call demands. We surface this honestly upfront so a hire is not surprised — and does not leave in month two.
  • Language fit. Many Klang Valley logistics employers need English plus Bahasa Malaysia, and some need Mandarin for principals or China-based reporting lines. We match to the actual requirement.
"In logistics the costly mis-hire isn't the one who can't do the job — it's the one who didn't know the job ran shifts. We screen for the realities, not just the résumé."

This is where our compliance-focused screening earns its keep. Carriera works with literacy in the Employment Act, LHDN and SST, so when we frame an offer for a shift-based or commission-linked logistics role, the terms sit on solid ground. It is one of four differentiators in how we recruit: quality over volume, market knowledge, compliance, and a small team giving full attention.

§ 04
Pay Context

What do logistics roles pay?

There is no single "logistics salary" — pay tracks the role, not the sector. As the table in §02 shows, the same Klang Valley logistics employers run frontline customer-service and coordinator roles from around RM1,700–RM3,500 a month, mid-level executive and inventory roles in the RM3,500–RM6,000 range, and management or branch-finance roles from RM7,000 upward. The drivers are seniority, scarcity (a true sea-freight specialist commands more than a general clerk), and language requirements.

For an independent benchmark of how Malaysian salaries move year to year, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) publishes national Salaries & Wages statistics (dosm.gov.my). We don't substitute a national average for a real quote, though — when we open a search we agree the role's salary band with you first, then target the matching talent pool. Carriera recruits across the full white-collar range, and you can see how our intake bands map to seniority on the recruitment service page.

FAQ

Logistics recruitment questions

Do you recruit for both freight forwarders and in-house logistics teams?
Yes. We place talent for licensed freight forwarders and 3PLs as well as for the in-house logistics, warehousing and supply-chain functions of importers, exporters and manufacturers. The roles overlap heavily — a Logistics Customer Service Executive at a forwarder and an Inventory & Logistics Executive at a manufacturer share much of the same skill base — so we screen across both.
Which logistics roles can you fill?
We cover operations and freight roles (Freight Executive, Customer Service – Freight, Logistics Coordinator, Inventory & Logistics Executive), sales roles (Indoor Sales – Freight Forwarding, Sales Executive), and the management and branch-finance layer above them (Finance Manager, operations and branch managers). Current live examples sit on our jobs board.
What do you screen logistics candidates for?
Beyond the basics: literacy in Incoterms and shipping documentation, hands-on exposure to import/export and customs clearance workflows, FCL/LCL and sea/air freight experience where the role needs it, and a realistic understanding of shift, on-call and port-area working conditions so a hire doesn't leave in month two.
Where in the Klang Valley do you recruit for logistics?
Across the Klang Valley, with particular depth around the Klang and Port Klang corridor where most freight and warehousing employers sit, plus Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and the Sungai Buloh industrial belt. Carriera is based in Setia Alam, Selangor, minutes from that corridor.
Are you a licensed recruitment agency?
Yes — Agensi Pekerjaan Carriera Talent Resources Sdn Bhd is a private employment agency licensed by the Ministry of Human Resources under JTKSM 615, as required by the Private Employment Agencies Act 1981 (Act 246).
