Carriera Academy · HRD Corp Claimable Training
Corporate training your team can claim back
Practical, compliance-focused programmes for Malaysian employers — tax & e-Invoice, employment law & payroll, finance, Excel and AI — delivered by Carriera Academy, an HRD Corp Approved Training Provider.

Carriera Academy is an HRD Corp Approved Training Provider, so a registered Malaysian employer can fund our courses through the SBL-Khas (HRD Corp Claimable Courses) scheme — paying with the training levy already contributed each month rather than fresh cash. Programmes span tax and e-Invoice, the Employment Act and payroll, financial analysis and budgeting, Excel and data, and AI for productivity. You register, we confirm by email, and an invoice follows.
- Claimable, not free. The HRD Corp levy is 1% of monthly wages for employers with 10+ staff — our SBL-Khas courses let you spend that fund instead of new cash.
- Five themes. Tax / SST / e-Invoice / LHDN, Employment Act & payroll, financial analysis & budgeting, Excel & data, and AI for productivity.
- Built for compliance. Each theme tracks a live Malaysian obligation — the RM1,700 minimum wage, e-Invoice, statutory payroll — so the learning is immediately usable.
- Simple to claim. Register → we confirm → you receive an invoice; submit the grant in the HRD Corp portal before the course date.
- Open calendar. Scroll to the live schedule below for current dates, CPD hours and venues — or WhatsApp Steph for an in-house run.
What is HRD Corp claimable training?
HRD Corp claimable training is workplace learning that a registered Malaysian employer can pay for using its Human Resource Development levy instead of out-of-pocket cash. Under the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad Act 2001, employers with ten or more local employees contribute a levy of 1% of each worker’s monthly wages into a fund managed by HRD Corp; employers with five to nine employees may register at an optional 0.5%. That money sits in your levy account waiting to be spent on approved training — which is why running a claimable course costs you the levy you have already paid, not a fresh budget line. HRD Corp sets the rules, approves the providers and approves the grants.
The most common route for an open programme is the SBL-Khas scheme (Skim Bantuan Latihan Khas, or HRD Corp Claimable Courses). Under SBL-Khas, HRD Corp pays the training provider directly from your levy once your grant is approved, so cash never leaves your account for an eligible course. Carriera Academy Sdn Bhd (Co.1112514-D) is an HRD Corp Approved Training Provider, which means our programmes are recognised under this scheme.
According to HRD Corp, the levy is 1% of monthly wages for employers with 10 or more employees — a fund built specifically so Malaysian workplaces keep upskilling.
The five themes we teach
Rather than chase a long course list, Carriera Academy concentrates on five themes where Malaysian employers carry a real, current compliance or productivity burden. Specific course titles and dates open on a rolling basis — see the live schedule further down — but every programme sits inside one of these:
- Tax, SST, e-Invoice & LHDN. Indirect tax and the e-Invoice mandate are moving fast — the e-Invoice exemption threshold was raised to an annual turnover of RM1,000,000 from 1 January 2026, so many smaller firms are newly in or out of scope. We keep finance and operations teams current. LHDN’s e-Invoice portal is the official reference.
- Employment Act & payroll. Statutory deductions, leave, notice and termination — plus the national minimum wage of RM1,700 a month, enforced for all employers since 1 August 2025 with penalties of up to RM10,000 per affected employee (The Star).
- Financial analysis & budgeting. Reading the numbers, building budgets and tightening budgetary control — for managers who own a P&L but did not train as accountants.
- Excel & data. From clean spreadsheets to formulas, pivot tables and dashboards that turn operational data into decisions.
- AI for productivity. Practical, governed use of AI tools to draft, summarise and analyse — aimed at everyday office work, not coding.
Who can claim?
Any employer registered with HRD Corp and contributing the levy can fund eligible training through SBL-Khas. That covers a large share of Malaysian businesses: micro, small and medium enterprises make up 96.1% of business establishments and employ 48.7% of the workforce — about 8.10 million people — according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM, 2024). If your company already pays the levy, the fund is yours to use; if you are below the mandatory threshold, you may still register voluntarily. If you are unsure of your status, Carriera can help you check before you commit to a date.
How to claim, step by step
Claiming is straightforward and the same whether you join an open programme or book an in-house run for your team:
- Register your interest for a programme on our schedule, or message Steph to scope an in-house session.
- We confirm the date, fee, CPD hours and venue by email and issue an invoice.
- Submit the grant in the HRD Corp eTRiS portal under SBL-Khas, attaching our quotation — do this before the course start date.
- Attend and complete the training; we provide the attendance and assessment records HRD Corp requires.
- HRD Corp settles the approved cost from your levy, so eligible training is funded from money you have already contributed.
Exact claimable amounts, allowable components and submission windows are governed by HRD Corp’s current circulars — always confirm the latest rules on the official HRD Corp site or ask us and we will point you to the right reference.
