Recruitment for packaging manufacturers

Permanent QA, NPD, production, planning and maintenance talent for food, plastic and paper packaging plants across the Klang Valley.

By Steph Eng · Carriera·Updated 17 June 2026
The short answer

Carriera — Agensi Pekerjaan Carriera Talent Resources Sdn Bhd, licensed JTKSM 615 — recruits permanent talent for food, plastic and paper packaging manufacturers across the Klang Valley and Peninsular Malaysia. We place quality, NPD, production, planning and maintenance roles through a manually-screened, quality-over-volume search with food-safety and compliance literacy.

§ 01
The Sector

Who does Carriera recruit for in packaging?

Food, plastic and paper packaging manufacturing is one of the named sectors our recruitment practice serves. It is a broad field — food-grade and food-contact packaging, flexible films and laminates, rigid plastic containers, corrugated cartons and fibre-based moulded packaging all sit under it — and each has its own technical and regulatory shape. What they share is a need for people who understand a production line, a quality standard, and a delivery deadline at the same time.

Packaging is one of the larger slices of Malaysia's manufacturing base, and manufacturing output is tracked monthly by the Department of Statistics Malaysia through the Index of Industrial Production (dosm.gov.my). When a plant is scaling, the constraint is rarely the machinery — it is finding the QA lead, the production engineer or the NPD executive who can keep quality and output moving together. That is the gap we fill.

If you are weighing the cost of engaging an agency, our companion guide on recruitment agency fees in Malaysia explains how placement fees typically work. To browse current openings, see our live jobs board, and you can clarify any term used here in our recruitment glossary.

§ 02
The Roles

What roles do we place in packaging plants?

We recruit across the backend of a packaging manufacturer — the technical, quality and planning functions that turn a line into shipped product — as well as the commercial and finance roles that support them. The table below reflects the kinds of positions we are placing right now for packaging clients in the Klang Valley; live salary figures shown are the advertised monthly bands for those specific roles, not a fixed scale.

RoleLocationIndicative monthly band
Junior Production EngineerBandar Bukit Raja, KlangRM2,500 – RM4,000
Junior QA LeadBandar Bukit Raja, KlangRM1,800 – RM4,500
Junior Product Development (NPD) ExecutiveBandar Bukit Raja, KlangRM2,500 – RM4,000
Junior Planning ExecutiveBandar Bukit Raja, KlangRM2,500 – RM4,000
Maintenance TechnicianBandar Bukit Raja, KlangRM1,800 – RM4,500
Packaging Graphic DesignerBandar Bukit Raja, KlangRM2,500 – RM4,000
Junior Client Relationship ExecutiveBandar Bukit Raja, KlangRM2,500 – RM4,000
Junior Finance & Accounts ExecutiveBandar Bukit Raja, KlangRM2,500 – RM4,000

Those are the live roles. Across packaging mandates more broadly, the standard white-collar and technical seats we fill include:

  • Production & process — production engineers, process engineers, line supervisors, shift and production managers.
  • Quality (QA / QC) — QA executives and leads, QC inspectors, food-safety and quality-system officers (GMP / HACCP environments).
  • New product development (NPD) — NPD and packaging-development executives, structural and material development, sample and tooling coordination.
  • Planning & supply — production planners, material and demand planners, procurement and inventory executives.
  • Maintenance & engineering — maintenance technicians, mechanical and electrical maintenance engineers, plant and facilities support.
  • Commercial & back-office — client-relationship and account executives, packaging graphic designers, finance, accounts and HR support that keep the plant running.
"In a packaging plant the wrong hire shows up fast — a missed quality check or a stalled line costs real money. We would rather present one genuinely-assessed candidate than a stack of CVs."
§ 03
Screening

How do we screen packaging candidates?

Every candidate goes through the same six-step search our recruitment process runs — but for packaging we weight the assessment toward the things that actually break a plant if they go wrong. We assess on qualifications, technical knowledge, experience and soft skills, then add the sector-specific checks below.

1

Food-safety literacy

For food and food-contact roles we look for practical familiarity with GMP and HACCP and the certification environment a plant works inside — not just a line on a CV.

2

Line & process reality

We probe whether a production or maintenance candidate has genuinely run or supported a line at volume, versus only studied it.

3

Quality mindset

QA and QC candidates are tested on how they think about defects, rework and root cause — the discipline that keeps shipments clean.

4

Compliance fit

We work with literacy in the Employment Act, LHDN and SST, so the terms of the role sit on solid legal ground.

This is the practical side of our compliance-focused, quality-over-volume approach: because we are a small team, the consultant who briefs your role is the one assessing the shortlist — you are never handed off to an account manager who never saw the candidates.

§ 04
Where & Who

Where do we recruit, and who is this for?

We recruit across Peninsular Malaysia, with real depth in the Klang Valley manufacturing belt — Klang, Shah Alam, Bandar Bukit Raja and the surrounding industrial parks where much of the country's packaging capacity sits. Carriera is based in Setia Alam, Selangor, a short distance from most of these plants. This service is built for:

  • Food, plastic and paper packaging manufacturers hiring permanent QA, NPD, production, planning or maintenance staff.
  • Plants scaling a line or a shift who need genuinely-assessed technical people, fast, without sifting unscreened CVs.
  • SMEs without an in-house talent team, and MNCs that want a local partner who knows Klang Valley salary norms and availability.
  • Hiring managers replacing a key quality or engineering role where a wrong hire is costly.

Once your new hires are on board, our corporate training arm — Carriera Academy, an HRD Corp Approved Training Provider — can develop them using your HRD levy under the SBL-Khas scheme, where HRD Corp pays the course fee directly to the provider from your levy account (hrdcorp.gov.my).

§ 05
Trust & Licence

Is Carriera a licensed agency?

Yes. Our recruitment entity is Agensi Pekerjaan Carriera Talent Resources Sdn Bhd (Co. No. 1058296-H), a private employment agency licensed by the Ministry of Human Resources under JTKSM 615. The Labour Department of Peninsular Malaysia (JTKSM) states that the Private Employment Agencies Act 1981 [Act 246] "requires anyone undertaking recruiting activities to be licenced as an APS" (jtksm.mohr.gov.my). Engaging a licensed agency means your packaging hires are handled within that legal framework — with one of 50+ companies served already working with us this way.
