The short answer

Carriera Academy Sdn Bhd is an HRD Corp Approved Training Provider. That means a registered Malaysian employer can fund our courses through the SBL-Khas (HRD Corp Claimable Courses) scheme — paying with the HRD levy they already contribute rather than fresh cash. You register, our team confirms by email, and an invoice follows.

Key takeaways
  • Carriera Academy Sdn Bhd is an HRD Corp Approved Training Provider — its registered programmes qualify for SBL-Khas (HRD Corp Claimable Courses) funding.
  • You pay with your levy, not fresh cash. Eligible employers debit the course fee from their HRD Corp account — no upfront payment to the provider.
  • The levy is 1% of wages for employers with 10+ Malaysian staff under the PSMB Act 2001 — money already earmarked for training.
  • Five themes: tax & e-Invoice; Employment Act, HR & payroll; financial analysis & budgeting; Excel/OLAP; and AI for productivity & marketing.
  • Delivered online via Zoom, typically 9am–5pm. Register, we confirm by email, then an invoice follows — ready to process as an SBL-Khas claim.

What it means

What is an HRD Corp Approved Training Provider?

An HRD Corp Approved Training Provider is a training organisation whose programmes are registered with and recognised by HRD Corp, the Malaysian statutory body for human-resource development. Carriera Academy holds this status, so our courses are eligible to be funded through an employer's levy account — the practical reason most Malaysian companies look for the approval before they book.

Why does the approval matter to you as an employer? Because under HRD Corp's claimable scheme, only courses delivered by a registered provider can be claimed against your levy. The approval is the gate. If a trainer is not HRD-Corp-recognised, your finance team cannot debit the course fee from the levy you have already paid — you would be paying out of pocket on top of your statutory contribution.

Carriera operates two arms under one brand: the recruitment business (Agensi Pekerjaan Carriera Talent Resources Sdn Bhd) and the training business, Carriera Academy Sdn Bhd, which carries the HRD Corp Approved Training Provider standing. This page is about the training arm. New to the terms here? Our glossary defines HRD Corp, SBL-Khas, the levy and SST in plain English.

§ 02
The levy & SBL-Khas

What does SBL-Khas claimable mean for an employer?

SBL-Khas means the course fee is debited from your HRD Corp levy account instead of paid upfront in fresh cash. It is the funding scheme that lets a registered Malaysian employer turn a statutory contribution they already make into real training for their people, delivered by an approved provider like Carriera Academy.

Here is the mechanism, sourced from the authority itself. Under the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB) Act 2001, the human-resources development levy is collected from employers to promote the training and development of employees (hrdcorp.gov.my/psmb-act-2001). HRD Corp states that registration is compulsory for a company that employs ten (10) or more Malaysian employees, and the mandatory levy is calculated as (total wages plus fixed allowances) × 1% (hrdcorp.gov.my/faq). Those figures come from HRD Corp's own employer FAQ — always confirm your own category and rate with HRD Corp, as schemes and thresholds change.

SBL-Khas — short for Skim Bantuan Latihan Khas — is the Malay name; HRD Corp's English label for the same programme is "HRD Corp Claimable Courses". On the practical side, HRD Corp confirms that "employers are not required to make an upfront payment for the course fee to the Registered Training Provider, as the course fee will be debited from the employer's account" (supportcentre.hrdcorp.gov.my). The same source notes that employers with outstanding levy arrears or interest are not eligible — so keep your levy account in good standing before you book.

Levy rate, threshold and scheme rules above are quoted from HRD Corp's official pages (linked inline) as at June 2026; verify your specific eligibility directly with HRD Corp. For a step-by-step walkthrough, see our HRD Corp claim guide.

So who can actually claim? According to HRD Corp, eligibility under the scheme rests on a few simple conditions, which we summarise below — always confirm the current rules against HRD Corp's own pages before you book:

  • You are a registered HRD Corp employer — registration is compulsory for companies with 10 or more Malaysian employees under the PSMB Act 2001.
  • Your levy account is in good standing — employers with outstanding levy arrears or interest are not eligible.
  • The course is delivered by an HRD Corp Approved Training Provider — Carriera Academy holds this status.
  • The claim is submitted and approved before the programme runs, so the fee can be debited from your account rather than paid upfront.
Pay with the levy you already contribute — not fresh cash. That is the whole point of an approved provider.

What we teach

What training themes does Carriera run?

Carriera Academy runs practical programmes built around the real regulatory and operational pressures Malaysian businesses face. Sessions are led by experienced external trainers. The live, bookable list changes over time and is pulled from our backend — so rather than printing a course catalogue here that goes stale, we group our work into five themes and keep the up-to-date programmes on training.html.

01

Tax & e-Invoice

SST, the Investment Tax Allowance (ITA 1967), e-Invoice readiness, LHDN audits and capital statements — the compliance topics finance teams are losing sleep over.

02

Employment Act, HR & Payroll

Malaysian labour law, HR policy and payroll done correctly — so your people processes hold up under scrutiny.

03

Financial Analysis & Budgeting

Reading the numbers, building budgets and turning management accounts into decisions.

04

Excel & OLAP

From confident spreadsheet work to pivot/OLAP analysis — the everyday data skills that quietly compound.

05

AI for Productivity & Marketing

Using today's AI tools to work faster and market smarter, grounded in what actually helps a Malaysian SME.

Specific course titles, dates and fees live on the training page, which loads the current schedule directly from our system. If you want a theme tailored to your team's roles, tell us what you are trying to fix and we will point you to the right session.

§ 04
Format & registration

How are the sessions run and how do I register?

Programmes are delivered online via Zoom, typically running 9am to 5pm, so your team can attend from anywhere in Malaysia without travel or venue cost. Registering is a short, human process — there is no automated checkout, because most employers want to confirm dates and claim details first.
